Good morning,

The implication of your response seems to be that a copy of the register is not available to me and that I can only “inspect” the register. It would also seem that the inference is that I cannot either make a copy or acquire a copy – digitally or otherwise – for my purposes. Is that the case?

It seems to be the way that the Act is being interpreted here, can you please confirm that or otherwise to clarify the situation.

Thank you for your email. Where my research is currently taking me is to do with:

The number of Delegated Authorities Council has on record and has authorised;
The scope of the Delegated Authorities in the jurisdiction;
The nature of Launceston’s Delegated Authorities; and where possible and/or appropriate,
The professional qualifications of personnel holding Delegated Authorities.

I’m quite aware that all this information will not be available via the list of Delegated Authorities but quite a bit of it will be I’m sure.

When we were discussing this matter some time/years ago I think that you advised me that Launceston was intending to follow the example of other adjoining jurisdictions and post this information on its website. With this in mind I went looking on the Council website to find that this hadn’t happened yet.

So, to answer your request I’d have to say that I’m looking for the entire list. For the sake of expediency, efficiency and transparency, might it not be best to actually lodge that information on the Council website as indicated earlier?

If you have an alternative suggestion please let me know.

Dear Robert,

I have received a complaint from “Raymond Norman” that he is being unnecessarily confused with myself. He noted the questions on notice that I put to council at today’s meeting appeared on the agenda under that name. I do see how the confusion might arise and indeed that it might indeed be unwelcomed. However, given that I’ve never used the name “Raymond” since 1962 it is increasingly annoying to have to apologise for others using that name in reference to myself – and especially so when it may not me that is being referred to.

I concede that the name “Raymond” does appear on my birth certificate, passport, the electoral roll and consequently very occasionally on legal documents. Nonetheless, “Raymond” is NOT the name that I’m known by professionally or in any other context and it never has been since I reached my majority. Indeed, no information about me, nor images of me can be found on social media under the name “Raymond” on the internet.

Therefore, in the cause of clarity and the avoidance of unwelcomed confusion I’m requesting that council, when referring to me, use the name Ray Norman, the name that I’ve used to identify myself since 1962 and so far as I’m aware, its the only name I’m known by.
